REAL CORP 21 highlights, plans for 2022

250 participants from all over the world attended REAL CORP 2021 and its extensive supporting programme. Despite the ongoing pandemic situation, we were able to welcome over 100 participants in attendance.

The conference proceedings have already been published, the online edition can be found at https://archive.corp.at/cdrom2021/.

The planning for REAL CORP 2022 has started, but nothing is fixed yet. We are currently sounding out the venue and will of course keep you informed. What is clear, given the current pandemic situation, is that REAL CORP 2022 will probably be scheduled for the autumn again – the forecasts for the first half of the year are too uncertain. For those planning to submit papers for 2022: a call for papers can be expected in the first quarter of 2022.

How Can We Transform Urban Slums into Urban Neighborhoods?,

Monday, November 8, 2021 at 7p.m. (Bangkok Time)

Housing is the really big issue where it constitutes over 70% of all real estate sectors in cities. The appearance of slums and low income housing sectors reflect some major housing problems which should be solved for the sake of the benefits of the poor and the society as a whole.  All cities in the world have slums, squatter settlements, shanty towns and the like. How can we transform urban slums into urban neighborhoods?

The 9th Informed Cities is co-organised by the GreenCharge, and OpenHeritage projects, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

Through a series of interactive sessions, we will explore how these topics align, and how problem solving, or specific processes might be addressed differently. Themes explored through the joint sessions include: How do experts from the different fields respond to the same administrative hurdles, how do they interact with interest groups and the public? How do we approach new technology? Do we see similar patterns, or different ones?

In addition, participants will be able to explore the individual topics of cultural heritage and electric mobility in more depth through deep dive sessions.

Unlike other online conferences, Informed Cities Forum is an interactive, collaborative event, which makes use of innovative formats, and is willing to explore unconventional topics. Active participation by the audience is not just encouraged, but is required, and will be rewarded with lively and energetic discussions.

Dates: 26- 28 October
