Virtual CNU 29.Design for Change

CNU 29.Design for Change will focus on the intersection between design and power. The power design holds to influence the way we live, to physically change and adapt the spaces we inhabit, as well as how we can use it to achieve the change we want to see in neighborhoods, towns, cities, and across regions. More than that, design is a tool that empowers neighborhood residents to imagine and create the places they want. In a rapidly changing world, design can create more resilient and just places as easily as it can contribute to deepening gaps.

"Internationalisation of metropolitan spaces" webinar

The recent evolution of the international action of local governments contemplates simultaneous phenomena, such as the exponential growth of their international activism, the change of focus in how they insert themselves in the world, no longer only as cooperation actors (donors or beneficiaries) but as actors of the global agenda in all its expressions, and the change in the ways and means of relating with foreign countries. Gradually, internationalisation has gained its space within the institutional, political, and territorial objectives of local administrations, turning into strategic action and finally into public policy.
Based on the Issue paper of the Metropolis Observatory "Internationalisation of metropolitan spaces", Metropolis and "Proyecto AL-LAs" offer a webinar to provide tools to local governments on how to construct a strategic public policy of international action at the metropolitan level.

Mobilising Mobility workshop

Mobilising Mobility: Like two peas in a pod - Digital Twins for urban planning
Cities are on the lookout for innovative clean freight solutions. The rise of an on-demand economy and the “uberisation” of urban logistics together with the mission of becoming climate-neutral paves the way for innovative solutions.
This is where Digital Twins come in: this is a digital replica of a complex real-world urban environment and represents different processes, actors and their interaction(s).
In addition to setting the context and bringing clarity to this complex concept, this webinar will showcase trailblazing initiatives that are evidence of its potential for more sustainable urban mobility planning. The webinar is promoted by LEAD, an H2020 project, that will create Digital Twins of urban logistics networks in six cities to support experimentation and decision-making with on-demand logistics operations in a public-private urban setting.

Eurocities annual conference 2020

Reinventing cities – beyond the urban crises
Our very first online Eurocities annual conference and AGM will take place on 4 and 5 November.
It is happening at a time when a new reality is taking shape in cities, in Europe and globally. Cities have been the hardest hit by the pandemic as well as the social and economic consequences. It is also in cities that the urgency of dealing with other major challenges such as climate change stands out very clearly.
In the face of competing crises, what can city leaders do to set a new course? How can we reshape the city to match new needs? In the aftermath of the corona pandemic, the daily functioning of the city as we know it is challenged.
