In the light of the global Covid-19 outbreak we couldn’t have guaranteed the health and safety of our attendees, speakers, exhibitors and staff at this year’s URBAN FUTURE global conference, scheduled to take place in Lisbon on April 1-3 Energy Cities 2020 postponed to 15 September Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, together with the city of Heerlen we decided to postpone our Forum to a later date. The European Commission's Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC) will provide support, guidance and advice to 100 cities across the EU to seize the opportunities of transitioning to green, smart, sustainable growth. In recent weeks, as the situation has evolved, we remained committed to carrying forward with hosting the World Towns Leadership Summit (WTLS) in Cape Town, South Africa. Sadly, IDA and our Cape Town host partner have decided we must cancel the 2020 WTLS. What Benefits can Cities Expect From Fare-Free Transport? In early December 2019, members of the city council in Kansas City, Missouri unanimously approved a resolution which will see it become the first major US metropolis to introduce free public transport later this year. The competent authorities, Regional State Administrative Agencies, have prohibited all public events of over 500 persons for a period of one month. Traficom foresees that the prohibition will be extended to cover the dates of this event. For this reason we are compelled to announce that the TRA2020 event is cancelled. Luxembourg's plans to provide free public transport entered into force from the beginning of March 2020. On 29 February, the country stopped charging standard fares for travel on its trains, trams and buses. Beforehand, people needed to pay about €400 for an annual ticket; today they can travel for free.
