Urban Mobility Summit Berlin

In Europe, the race to become The MaaS Platform is heating up. We are seeing big tech companies, public transport companies, OEMs and startups furiously building MaaS platforms in the hope of aggregating all the public and private transport services on their platform. However in a field full of competitors, companies operating in Europe need to collaborate in order to build enough scale and expand across borders. Can companies in Europe work together in order to realise the critical mass needed to make MaaS work?

The Summit brings together corporates, policymakers and startups to explore this overarching theme of building critical mass for MaaS in Europe. This is what the Urban Mobility Summit Berlin is all about, bringing a powerful international community together to build relationships while exploring big-picture ideas in mobility.

Top 3 Daring Cities 2020 outcomes

When ICLEI and our partners in the Federal City of Bonn and the German government began formulating a way to build on the 10-year legacy of the Resilient Cities Congress series, we were conceiving an event that could speak to, and serve, the decade before us – humanity’s best chance of preserving a livable future for its inhabitants.

Such an undertaking called for more than just careful branding. The name needed to encapsulate the progress made by cities over the past decade to build climate resilience but, more importantly, the caliber of action happening on the ground to secure a low-emission, resilient future for their residents.

ECOMM 2021 - The Call for Presentations is extended until 24th of January

More than ever, the goal of achieving sustainable transport modes putting users first and providing them with more affordable, accessible, healthier, and cleaner alternatives to their current mobility habits and patterns. Automated and connected multimodal mobility must play an increasing role, together with smart traffic management systems offered by digitalization. On the other hand, it is crucial to think and plan the cities, in order to ensure the essential services and proximity functions, equipment, and identity, while simultaneously creating spaces that are adjustable and flexible to support fast changes.

How to ensure affordability, accessibility and safety for all? Which strategies must be employed to reduce the need to travel? How to implement mobility hubs to induce co-mobility and shared mobility, integrating several modes of transport as well as creating urban spaces and greener environments? How to afford Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems?

Considering the necessary deep changes in economy, society, policy, environment and technology, our future depends on the lessons we will learn from the moment we are living today and ECOMM 2021 wants to actively encourage the discussion and exchange on the Beginning of a New Era at European level.

What is the Regions in Recovery Festival?

It is a research-led celebration of thinking about our regions and cities in a time of great crisis and change. The word Festival illustrates that the event takes place over several weeks, accommodating the work of many researchers and policymakers along with an optional social and well-being programme. The collective goal is to bring together an inclusive community to share research thoughts and to network.

The Festival will address themes related to the re-emergence of regions and cities from the pandemic. It includes longer standing challenges to society of climate change, geopolitical manoeuvrings, the rise of populism, the financial implications of these shifts, migration crises, new challenges to the survival of pandemic struck firms and city centres and much more.
