The Ministry of Health has provided clarification on timelines for completion of S12 of the drinking water standard for rural agricultural water supplies. Utilities Engineer – Petone

Capacity Infrastructure Services manages water, stormwater, and wastewaster services on behalf of Wellington City Council, Hutt City Council and Upper Hutt City Council. We currently manage more than 5,086km of pipes, 121 reservoirs and 175 pump stations in the Wellington region.

The Utilities Engineer oversees the management of the telemetry and pump station operating systems for our clients water services assets.

The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Managing pump station, telemetry and reservoir performance;
  • Project managing works to ensure contract and policy requirements are met;
  • Providing timely and accurate advice to contractors, clients and customers;
  • Managing a small team to achieve operational and strategic goals.

The key skills required for this role include:

  • An electrical/mechanical engineering back round with a good understanding of the requirements of operation and maintenance of the three water;
  • Sound budgeting, financial management and reporting ability;
  • Planning, management and delivery of large scale projects.

Distribution Engineer – Water

Whangarei District Council is now looking for a Professional Civil Engineer to manage their Water Supply Reticulation Network. The role would suit a motivated individual looking for experience in a team leader role.   • Proven experience in civil engineering project management.
  • Experience in writing and supervising contracts.
  • Some specialisation in drinking water systems or pipeline design.
  • A Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Civil) or equivalent.

The preferred candidate is also likely to be familiar with Access and Excel, have excellent communication skills and a high degree of customer focus. Knowledge of the Pipeline Asset Management Database HANSEN, while advantageous, is not essential.
