Applications for space must be received in writing by completing a booking form by email or fax, and must be accompanied by credit card details.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS OPEN!
Abstracts are now being invited for Water New Zealand’s 52nd Annual Conference, Water – our Key Strategic Resource, to be held in the Christchurch Convention Centre 22-24 September 2010. Papers are sought on any topic of interest to the full spectrum of the water industry and could include, but not be limited to, areas such as:

  • innovations, advances and smart solutions to water and wastewater technology & treatment;
  • emerging contaminants in water and wastewater treatment;
  • modelling excellence both from a practitioner and a decision maker's perspective;
  • pipe issues;
  • irrigation engineering
  • aspects of planning;
  • social challenges and addressing complexity;
  • applying learning from others, including significant overseas developments;
  • water quality - economic and environmental pressures;
  • trade offs - water quality and bio-solids production;
  • strategic alliances;
  • integrated management of water at governance and project levels;
  • water quantity and efficiency of use;
  • new approaches;
  • smart solutions;
  • planning of infrastructure to allow for climate change;
  • training issues - addressing current strategic gaps and future needs;
  • community involvement; and
  • governance and management.

Please note you can specify that your abstract is intended for inclusion in a specialised stream i.e. Modelling, SWANS or Trenchless Technology.

Audit Report on Water Management - The Office of the Auditor General has released a report on an audit of the performance of eight territorial authorities in managing future demand for water. The purpose of the audit was to help form a view about how well prepared the country is to meet the likely future demand for drinking water. Three of the eight local authorities were managing their drinking water supplies effectively to meet forecast demand for drinking water, three could be doing better, and two were managing poorly. WORLD WATER DAY 2010

Registrations are flowing in for the Oxfam Corporate Water Challenge!


Over 20 teams, ranging from councils, consultants, water retailers and plumbers, have registered already to be involved in World Water Day 2010. Events are being held in Auckland on Saturday, 20 March, Bay of Plenty on Sunday, 21 March and Canterbury on Sunday, 28 March and are co-hosted by Beca, North Shore City Council and supported by Tauranga City Council. Teams of four will participate in a fun beach relay event, requiring teamwork, skill, strength and fitness – racing to carrying 20L across the finish line. Support World Water Day and register your team to enjoy a fun day at the beach and networking at the after-event function. All proceeds go towards Oxfam New Zealand's Water for Survival work.



Meeting of the Water New Zealand Modelling Special Interest Group: Waikato Region


All modellers, public service representatives and environmental practitioners in the fields of stormwater, wastewater and water supply based in the Waikato are invited to an informal get-together. Come along for a presentation preceded by light refreshments followed by discussions whilst meeting other professionals with common interests.

2010 Asia Pacific Water & Sewer Systems Modelling Conference
